An Animal that is not in the list of Death Note

Scientific search proves that very first turtles were living on earth about 200 million years ago. This time is equal to 100 years times 2 million, or 1000 years times 200 thousands. This is awful number. Far gone beyond our brain could handle.

When the first turtle come to the earth, neither of mammals and birds were heard off. Even none of plants we have presently was in that time. Plants that are hardly sort of trees and grasses were just begun to grow on the cooled volcano lava. Talking about soul is nonsense at that time. Poor turtles have gone through ages of ice, fire, and flood. But human kind still couldn’t figure out the numbers of animals and plants were in those eras.

As a living being, turtle live amazing long time. There are many armored “grannies” that are still living more than already 200 years. Turtles can live both in water and land, and many species there. Among all the species, tortoise is the one giant turtle and we should study him. Tortoises live in Islands of Galápagos which is about 1800km/1120miles far from South America in the Atlantic Ocean. Diameter of shell is about 1-1.5m/ 3ft 3inch-4ft 11inch, and whole body weights around 200-400kg/ 441-882 lb. Claws are very strong and muscular. 

In XVII centuries, sailors from Spain found tortoises at first while the discovery of Galápagos Islands. Tortoises were top essential food for sailors and pirates in the time of no refrigerator and no canned foods. They load a ship full of turtles. Because turtles don’t die in months and years, and they are fresh meats. Sailors, pirates, and whale hunters were safe from lack of food in the favor of tortoises. Many years of tortoises’ massacre eliminated the number of them almost to end. 

Female tortoise lays up to sixteen hard-shelled eggs the size of tennis balls. Nest is built in dry and warm sandy ground far from shore. After about half year, eggs are cracked, and very small tortoises come out. Little tortoises exactly follow their mother to the sea. On the journey to the sea, they run at “full speed” due to not to be a lunch for “turtle lovers”.

Turtles are not different from its’ very first ancestors. Clumsy and slow but it is the principle to live long. Here says that there shouldn’t be so developed and modernized to live long. Some turtles can live in its’ shield without eating leaves and drinking water for few years. Jokes from sailors: turtles are not in the list of Death note, so nobody comes from the hell or the heaven to take them, but they voluntarily go to “there” when they are exhausted by their slow motioned movie life.
